Although Ali Baba's name appears is the title, Bluto actually plays the baddie named Abu Hassan. Upon hearing of the evil deeds of the bandit and his 40 thieves, Popeye, Olive and J. Wellington Wimpy fly to Arabia. Olive and Wimpy are captured. Abu forces Olive to do the laundry and chains Wimpy to a pole. It's hilarious to watch Wimpy use the loose part of the chain to sneakily snake himself some whole roasted chickens while Abu Hassan is drinking. Popeye sneaks into Abu's hideout to rescue them, but finds himself outnumbered forty-one to one. Not to worry, however, with the aid of his spinach, Popeye prevails again.| Released: | 1937 |
